Hey, all -

My name is Laurie, I'm 36, married to the best guy on earth, and scheduled for VSG on 1/25. I have been struggling my whole life with weight, breaking the 200 barrier at the tender age of 11. Since then, I've never been below 200, and at my lowest with weight watchers I was still 238. In the process of trying to conceive, the stress eating was unreal....and when I moved to DE for my new job I was already back to 280. Now I've broken the 300 barrier with gusto...and the attempts to conceive have been worse after 2 reproductive docs told me that my weight was the only thing keeping me from getting pregnant.

After much deliberation, I decided to shoot for the band, but upon researching I decided on the sleeve..... and I'm thrilled with my decision. I can't wait until my new birthday.

Well, that's me. Hope to get to know you all very well on my journey!

Laurie =):smile:

Hi Laurie and welcome to VST - we are happy to have you join our ever-growing "family" ... you will be happy with the sleeve and I bet once you're at goal, you'll be able to start a family. If you have any questions, comments, fears, etc., post away!

Hi Laurie! I'm scheduled for the 25th too! Several people are also within days of us so we'll all have to compare notes afterward. Aren't you just SO excited?? :smile:

Lots of people I've followed on a RNY forum for the last 3 years have gotten pregnant after surgery (with that being their main reason for having surgery in the first place), and I don't know if you're a Biggest Loser fan or not, but Kristin from the purple team two seasons ago is now pregnant also, which was one of her big goals. I think you've made a wonderful decision and you're gonna do great!!

Hi Laurie, welcome to VST! Great to have another sleeve sister on board. What an exciting journey you are on. I am just 3 months post op. I am soooooooooo happy with my weight loss. (see stats below) You will be so pleased. Have patience, especially with the diet afterwards. It is only 6 weeks. That is not that long for life time results. I am so glad you can do this at 36 and have the "best" of your life to look forward to.

Congratulations on your decision. Can't wait to have you on our loosers bench!

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
