Best friend is trying to talk me out of surgery

I totally agree with everyone else, I think deep down your friend might be a bit jealous and insecure about how it's going to change your friendship. And she's als probably thinking that if you're doing something like this and she just stays the same then se's going to be left behind/she's going to look bad compared to you. Or maybe not, but I imagine if one of my friends was about my size and was going to get wls, then I'd probably be a bit jealous and such.

I only had one friend not be supportive initially and that was because he thought I was just doing it so I could date hotter guys. I just sort of chuckled and reminded him that my last partner was a model, and then asked him how many model's he'd dated. Silly boy.

Hi there, This is my first post as I went to my surgeon today and made my VSG date of 23rd Feb. I have only told my sister about this and not my parents as I know they will be full of negatives. My friend was also very worried about the consequences so I took her with me to chat to the surgeon as well. She had the opportunity to find out about what it is all about, and voice her opinions as well as hear my feelings towards my decision. She also learnt that I have researched this for 12 months. I actually troll through this site gathering information as we don't have a proper site yet in Australia so thankyou everyone for your posts.

She now fully supports my decision as she understands more about it. She is a cyclist so is very fit. I know some friends/ family can be supportive and some can't...just pick who to tell.:(

BLAQK:gottalove the Brittish. What a great attitude.

STEPHANIE; Leave your "best friend" out of the discussions reguarding your WLS journey. Unless, she ask's, don't tell. She has made herself clear. Now move on and let that issue between you die. It will hurt your friendship if you do not let it be.

Do not allow her opinions influence your decisions.

Do your research, make informed decisions about your own health.

Try not to be hurt by her negative comments, she is also dealing with weight issues, and like !1Linda said, she will feel like you are doing something and she isn't.

This sleeve is very successful.

Be aware that there will be people that will say negative things about you when you loose weight. However, It is sooooo much easier to just smile and say, so sorry I offened you with my thin healthy self. lol

Just take it one step at a time.

Enjoy the journey.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
