OK, now I'm torturing myself reading food blogs

Recommended Posts

Just like I was doing days ago with my Thai cookbook. OH that reminds me I am supposed to post the caramelized pork recipe! I'll do it now. I do love to cook and make delicious food. There is a small part of me that worries I will lose something in that area of m life now but I know I should not feel that way. I will just eat less of it and probably will appreciate the intense, rich flavors even more because I will be eating slower and more thoughtfully. Has anyone found this to be true?

Joon, I was completely NPO for 22 days. I could not even have ice chips. I became obsessed with the food Network shows. That's all I watched, and was worried I would love the passion I have for cooking great meals for my family.

Food does taste better now. I enjoy eating again, and have found that I enjoy finding new recipes, and trying new spices/flavorings.

I did quit cooking for a little bit because John was deployed, and it was just myself and Caysen. If I did cook, it was minimal.

It's okay for you to feel those feelings. It's normal, and kind of expected.

Oh my goodness! I can only imagine watching the food channel Tiff! Thanks for the reassurance...it is so wonderful to have everyones input on this board. I spend so much of my life focused on supporting others concerns...it is really nice to have a place to go to to get some support for myself. :-)

I have been doing the same exact thing! I'm almost a month out....I've been pulling out all my cookbooks, cooking magazines, watching food network...its been ridiculous! I think, for myself, its about my relationship with food...I have always loved to cook...always loved to read recipes, try different things, I know I won't give that up, in fact, I've cooked up a storm since my surgery..my family is VERY happy...ha ha ha....My mom had RNY..she did the same thing...couldn't EAT the food, but still loved food, preparing, thinking about it...I'm the same way, just because we have to eat in a different way, doesn't mean we have to 'give up' food, or our relationship with it. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
