How to get calories on clear liquids?

Recommended Posts

Help! on day 7 of Clear liquids...Managed to stomach nectar ice tea this am...23 grams Protein plus some sugar free Jello with Isopure..3 grams..working on another nectar right now. Today is the first day I've had more than 5 grams of protein.

I'm feeling rather dizzy and weak..i think the lack of calories has really zapped me. I'm not hungry at all, thats not a problem.

But HELP! how many calories am I supposed to be getting now and HOW do I get them? Everything that i eat is sugar free.I think I've had a total of about 150 calories today and its from the Nectars.< /p>

Need suggestions! (brain isnt workin real well either at this point!)

thanks,

Kris

I bought some vials of fruit punch flavored liquid Protein at Wal-mart to have on hand after surgery in case I cannot eat and I need the protein. I hope they don't taste too bad. They were beside the pharmacy where the Protein Bars were located. They only have the one flavor and they are only $1.97 each. Dr. Husted suggested them and you can also get them from Bariatric Advantage, THEY HAVE DIFFERENT FLAVORS AND THEY ARE $2.99 EACH IF i AM CORRECT. I hope this helps. I got mine here in Somerset Ky. If you have a Wal-Mart close to you, you can check with them and if they dont have them, maybe they could order them. I will post the name of them later if you need it.

lol..i bought 2 of those...opened them up and nearly lost it...I can't stand the smell of whey Protein and it's very strong in those! I have a local GNC and they supposedly will take back anything that you don't like and give you a refund...product can be open. All you have to do is keep your receipt! I'm collecting!

Happy thanksgiving!

that stage is when the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth will come in for me. I know I will tire of "sweet" drinks very fast when that's all I have. The Unjury chicken broth flavor will still have all the Protein but will be a nice warm savory addition.

Do try the egg drop Soup. Also, fruit juices contain a bit more sugar and can be beneficial if you're having low blood sugar issues. (You can even mix those foul tasting Protein "shots" into fruit juice to help mask the taste of the whey protein).

tough it out....mushies are coming!

I just wanted to comment on the Protein shots-

I ordered some on line and they were horrible- I did manage to get them down out of neccessity- but then I found the ones at wal-mart and they only come in one flavor- fruit punch and they are cheaper and taste sooooo much better!

they really are good when you are having trouble getting in your Protein.< /span>

Artteacher - you should be getting in between 600-800 calories, 70 gms of Protein and less than 30 gms of carbs-- however, when I was on the liquid stages (clear and full) there was no way I could get in the "recommended" amount of anything. Right now, focus on staying hydrated and getting in as much Protein as you can - the rest will come with time.

I wasn't able to tolerate any of the Protein drinks - including the nectar, except the unflavored which I tried to add to whatever I could. Egg drop Soup should be okay for you, as the egg "streams" are so fine that you can hardly tell it's egg (at least the one that I made and posted recipe)

Hang in there, each day will get easier.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
