Got a date! December 14...the first day of the rest of my life!

Recommended Posts

So, it's off to Walt Disney World tomorrow, preop diet on November 30, and surgery on December 14. I had my consult today, and I really like my surgeon, Dr. Nicholson. I'm so energized by this decision (for now...I'll be nervous again later..ha!).

Thanks to everyone for the amazing support that enables us folks to make an educating decision based on firsthand experience. This message board is a true blessing!

Have fun at Disneyland - relax and ENJOY yourself - don't think about what's coming around the bend - and if you're sure this what you want to do and you like your doctor, then there's no reason to be nervous!

Tiff, even if she's on Clear Liquids, you can still meet - someplace is bound to have chicken noodle Soup or something along those lines! The fun part will be the MEETING!!!

Day two preop diet. Not so bad. I was surprised that I wasn't that hungry! I'm ready to "get this party started." Sure, I say that, but I'm still so darn nervous. I'll just be glad when I wake up from the surgery and start my new way of life!

Great news! There are several of us going in on Monday. The preop diet has been going really well. I've been out to eat several times and have not cheated at all. I have a really bad headache though. Could be from NO carbs. My body is freaking out! Good luck to all!

Glad to hear your pre-op is going well. Monday is coming up fast. Good luck! You won't need it but I will give it anyway. Dr. Nick is wonderful!!

Thanks, Linda! I definitely need all the luck and prayer I can get! You look tremendous, and I know you must feel it too! Way to go! I can't wait to be on that side of surgery!

Prayers on surgery day are always a must. I will be sure to send several your way. Do the same for me....I am having knee surgery (other knee - "second verse, same as the first") next Wednesday.

You will love your sleeve after it heals. I love eating small quantities (I love it most of the time) and enjoy shrinking out of my clothes. I feel great!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
