I will not have surgery until my blood pressure is under control.

Today, I went to the Dr. and had it checked again, it was still 170/110

so I have ways to go before I'll be ready for surgery. It may take a

month to get it regulated. So I'm out for November. Maybe by Dec. 1st I'll be eligible. So I'll be cutting back on my salt, eating lean meat, veggies, and fruities. Avoiding anything white, and walking a mile a day. So, there it is in black & white. I have a weeks vacation, so I"m taking it now, and I'll be back at work Saturday. Although I'm disapointed, I'm better off knowing about my High BP now, and taking care of it.

Judy - well at least you know and you know what needs to be done. I still believe everything happens for a reason and you'll be much better off having your BP under control BEFORE surgery -- and once you get the surgery and the weight starts coming off, you won't even need that BP medication, so think of it as a short term medication!

Hey Judy!

I'm just glad that you found out early-prior to surgery. You know what to do now, and it's just a temperary set back.

You sound like you have a plan and that you're not quiting!! Good for you!

Thinking of you!!

Judy, I know it must be frustrating to have this day, but like the others, I truly believe it is for the best. I am confident you will be able to get it under control and have your surgery soon.

Judy, I'm so sorry to hear this isn't going well for you. . . try walking for at least 30 minutes everyday. . .it may help. . . I know, tons of advice and whatcha should does, I'm sorry. . . but I guess that is just second nature to help friends and "family". . . good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
