Pinching at the port - post op 6 days later

Recommended Posts

Anyone else have pinching at the port area when moving, I am 6 days after surgery and I do not feel the incisions but when I bend down to tie my shoes I get a striking pain inthe port area, or if I stretch my back I get a pinching feelin in that area. is this normal for 6 days after Surgery?

You're feeling the tightening of the sutures as the edema subsides and the healing progresses. Try to take is slow and easy for the first 2-3 weeks.

Ok thanks, I have been pushing myself to get back to normal and back to work, I am however going on Vacation at the end of the week so maybe I will be able to relax then.

Hi! I was banded a week ago today, and just like you, I've been struggling with the port pain. If I could just get rid of that pain, I would be great. I've been having trouble sleeping at night. I can't sleep on the port side or my back without awful pain and discomfort. The only thing that works for me right now is Advil! Hang in there and have a wonderful vacation!:)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
