I am six days post-op now and really excited about it. I am doing a little better everyday, but I have noticed that I bloat really easily. If I drink a lot of liquid throughout the day, by the time I go to bed I am VERY unconfortable and it feels like I am just about ready to pop.

Is anyone else experiencing this and will it last forever or dissapate with time?

Thanks for any help you can give.:001_rolleyes:

Hey AJWatson, welcome to the forum and our family. I had some bloating the first few days; however, it doesn't seem to be that much of a problem now ... you aren't drinking anything carbonated are you?

No, I am not drinking anything carbonated. I asked my doctors office and they said that it could be I am drinking too much and just need to watch out for that. They also said it could be from a certain temperature, like cold drinks may cause bloating.

Thanks for your post.

I know they say drink sugar free stuff, but anything with sucralose, or aspartame bloats me like crazy. I'm now 5 days post-op and drinking diluted apple juice/juices , no sugar added popsicles and low sodium broths. Yeah....we did it!!!!

I know I have an easier time with warm items, especially until about 11 am -- I like really cold things; but I can't drink them because it hurts to do so ... that's why I suck on ice cubes.

Hope it gets better for you - might want to try some gas-x to see if that helps.

One week since my surgery and for the last two days the bloating is so uncomfortable. When does it end? I have trouble drinking because I feel like I am going to explode already. Thanks for all of you who are trying to say what worked for you.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
