New to this, hoping to convert to sleeve soon!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I just found this forum today and have been reading avidly everything I could get my mouse on. I was just introduced to the concept of converting my band to the sleeve last week and am really excited about the possibility! My band was stellar the first year and a disaster the second. Can't keep random food down, no fill for a year, every time they try it, they have to take it out. I lost 70lbs the first year and gained back 30 the second year. So, as you can imagine, frustration has set in. :lol0:

I have just put in the paperwork to get the sleeve covered by insurance, which shouldn't be a problem, it will just take a few months for it to come through, most likely. I will hopefully be getting the sleeve in January. Waiting that long and dealing with the band for another 4+ months will be difficult, but I have done it this long, so I suppose I will manage!

Thank you all for all of the posts, I have learned a lot about what to expect and am so excited about getting rid of this band and hopefully getting back on the train of weight loss! I have around 60-70 left to lose and had expected to have it lost already! I will keep reading and learning the rest of the year.

Hi everyone. I just found this forum today ...

Welcome to the forum. You did great withyour wt loss. I'm so sorry you have had the issues with your band but glad you have found the info concerning revision. There are several on here that have had a band and then have revised to a sleeve. I'm sure you will find answers to allot of your questions here.

Good luck with your ins. Knowing the sleeve will be there in future the time will pass fast for you. Hope to see you here again soon. carol

I hope your ins. pays for your revision. I didn't have ins. to help, but I could not get that band out of me fast enough.

Welcome to the board. We are such a big happy family here.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
