I can't believe I'm finally in Mexicali! My pre-op testing is done and I head back to the hospital for surgery in the morning. I'm so excited to finally be getting sleeved, but a little scared too. I know it's the right thing to do for me though. I'm tired of living my life inside this body. I want people (including myself) to see more than just fat when they look at me. I want to eat like a normal person, and have more energy, and for food to no longer be such an important part of my life. I'm so happy to be starting what will hopefully be my final weight loss journey. Thanks to everyone here for sharing all of your support and advice over the past few months. I know I wouldn't be in Mexicali right now without it. :001_smile:

We are all glad that we are able to support Dr. Aceves. He is great, and without him and that great hospital, there are so many of us who could not afford to get that surgery!

Thanks everyone for all your kind wishes! It helps to know so many people are out there supporting me and wishing me well. I actually felt pretty good yesterday, hardly any pain, but people keep telling me that Day 2 is the worst, so I'm worried about what's coming. The word nausea has been bandied about quite a bit and that happens to be my least favorite symptom. I did get nauseous a few times today, but it went away fairly quickly if I just layed down flat for a while. Hopefully, that will work for me again today. We'll see how it goes. At least I know it will all be worth it in the end.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
