Calorie/fat/carb counting post op..

Recommended Posts

So, what can I do to ensure that I don't stall?

I can't imagine stalling when I can only eat 1/8 cup for a meal.

I guess I still need to count calories, carbs, and fats?

I know I will need to exercise..that's a done deal.

Dr. Aceves likes us to be at around 800 calories per day, mostly Protein. It's not hard unless you add in any sugary Snacks.

Most Protein drinks have around 120 calories.

Everyone stalls. There is no way to avoid it. Sometimes your body just wants a chance to get used to it's new weight.

I stalled a lot with my band.... for a week or two at a time..... my body seemed to shift weight around or I would still loose inches but scale wouldn't budge. I always went by how clothes felt!

Try not to let it make you feel bad! Everyone does stall and a lot of it for me was related to hormone issues...... just keep going..... turtle or bunny....we all get there!

Which part........ they were calling me octo mom before when I was pregnant with Emerson...... I myself always felt like a thanksgiving turkey.....cause when I hit about 8 months my port (from the band) stuck out like a turkey pop timer!

Susie, a lot of us experience plateaus at some point. I was sleeved April 2, lost a ton of weight right off the bat and then was on a plateau for several weeks. I just started losing again about three weeks ago, thank goodness. I keep track of everything I eat, my daily activity/exercise level, etc. on fitday. I still struggle to make 800 calories a day, so it wasn't that I was taking in too many calories. I think my body just decided it needed some time to adjust to the rapid weight loss I was having and all the changes it was going through. I am okay with that, so long as there was no gain and I started losing again.

I am pre-surg, started a modified diet just cutting carbs a lot, well before my 7 day presurg diet requirement. Already had 1 stall. I'm ok with it. Practicing for when I get sleeved!

I can really tell that my liver is shrinking. I can wear shirts that I have not worn in 2 years! Goodbye fatty liver!

I'm stalled right now and its killing me!!! Its been 10 days since the scale has moved. I'm trying not to get freaked out about it but my inclination is to want to "go on a diet". The whole reason I had the surgery was because obsessive dieting was ruling my life. I really wanted to let go of all that. I would like to eat protien veggies fruit and complex carbs, in that order. After that I just want to trust the sleeve... let go of my obsessive need to diet.

I'm sure others feel differently.... they just want to loose the weight and get it over with. That makes sense too, I guess it depends on factors like your reason for having surgery, what your particular mal adaptive thinking patterns are (if any), your BMI, the amount of cravings you have...... etc.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
