Okay ladies (and gentlemen), I need some assistance.

I am dealing with the Clear Liquids okay. I can get through the next 5 day of that -- what I don't think I can get through even one more day of is crushing my medication and mixing it with Water ... every time I do that gag and it's all I can do to keep myself from throwing up. ;)

Any suggestions on how to get through the clear and full liquid stage and still be able to take my medication? I have to take my BP medicine, my nexium and my effexor (2x a day since I had to switch from the XR to the regular)?

I'm hoping once I'm on mushies I can mix them with a bit of yogurt or applesauce and get them down that way ...

Also, HOW LONG do I have to take them crushed?

PLEASE HELP!!! I'm gagging here! :)

Can you break it up in tiny little pieces and take it that way? The size of a baby aspirin or smaller?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh no I hope you can get some suggestions. I've never been on any meds for any hbp, or anything else, so I'm useless .

I got the OK from my MD to swallow the pills and did that from the first day I was able to drink in the hospital. Call Dr. Campos and ask him if it's OK for you.

Is that allowable? My BP medicine isn't even the size of a baby aspirin and if I broke it in half or quarters it'd be really tiny ... the effexxor I can break up too if that is permissible at this stage of the game ... I'm really really struggling here.

Dr. Campos wasn't around when I had my surgery - he was in Seattle for his sister's graudation ... he did come in the last night I was there and introduce himself, but that's about it ... I don't even have a phone number for him ... should I call or email Dr. Aceves?

Hey Hun,

When I talked to Renee about taking meds she told me that I could break them into small pieces and not have to crush it, she said just make them really small! Take care! I'll be calling soon! Oh...and if you need it I have Dr. Campos number.

That's what I would do if I was you.

I had no problem taking Nexium at 2 weeks without breaking it up.

Oh thank GOD and the two of you ... I might actually make it through now to mushies ... I was beginning to wonder ... I will give it a try tomorrow morning ... and right after, I'm having my Crystal Light Popsicle ... it'll be 5 days and I'm entitled ... WOO HOO :lol0:

I didn't crush my pills. I tried the first night and it was so horrible, I decided not to do it anymore. The only one Dr. Aceves told me not to take whole was Celebrex. Since I haven't exercised for 6 weeks, I haven't had to take it.

What have you been drinking for your clears?

Clears have been an issue -- I've had chicken noodle Soup broth, beef Soup in a cup broth, ramen noodle mix, went to GNC today and bought some Isopure... then went to Target and got some sugar-free drink additives and added it to the Isopure -- it's tolerable that way - no funny powerdy aftertaste. Have 3 healthfood stores I'm going to call tomorrow to see if they carry the nectar Protein -- none of the GNCs around here carry it. I've also had some hot tea. Any other suggestions? I'm looking forward to SF Popsicles and SF Jello tomorrow (Dr. Aceves said I had to wait 5 days for those) ... I'm totally opened to suggestions as I'm already tired of broth.

I've had a major headache everyday since my surgery and today I feel very lightheaded and I'm sure it's because I'm not getting in enough Protein, so I need to find something I can tolerate and not get sick of in the next 15 days.

I used GNC unflavored Protein powder and put it in all sorts of stuff. I have no sense of smell and people tell me that changes how things taste though. I put it in unsweetened apple juice, although this was not my favorite. There are all sorts of sugar free drink mixes out now a days. I had no trouble what so ever getting my Protein in because one scoop of this stuff is 20 grams of whey protein.

You can't put it in warm things because it will get lumpy, but you can put it in crystal light.

When I was in GNC today I asked the man if he had any unflavored whey protein that was really unflavored ... he said not really ... so I was afraid to try it ... I'm calling some other places tomorrow to see if they have the whey nectar protein and if so will go and get it ... just not sure what flavor(s) to get ... the fuzzy navel sounds pretty good ... any suggestions on that? If I can't find it, then I'll go back and get the not really unflavored unflavored stuff and suffer through it I guess.

Try just taking them 1-2 at a time slowly with lots of liquid. I take immune suppression so too many to crush etc I started taking them right away just slow and easy 1-2 at a time. I'm 1 year out and can swallow all again at once with a small sip of Water. Just go easy if it doesn't work go back each week you will see differences. Being 1 year out I'm way different then early on.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
