Elisabeth,

Thanks for your journal. I also am an RN and work nights. So I was wondering if I would be able to go back to work after one week. I work peds so no heavy lifting anyway. I was glad to hear that you did well at work after only a week. My surgery is July 10 with Dr Aceves and I can't wait!

I have not seen anyone post that liked the Isopure

I liked it! At first anyway. It saved my butt in the early days, letting me get in both Protein and Fluid in reasonable quantities.

But I find most Protein drinks like that (the non-shake ones) "turn" on you after a while. So eventually I couldn't drink them. But by then I was onto regular food and found a Protein shake I liked so it was okay.

They have 3 pools at the hotel. Yes, I did go outside and also went to the pharmacy on the corner by the ER entrance. This is where they bring you for pre-op testing. The first day in the hospital you meet with the medical MD, the anesthesiologist, the assistant surgeon (Campos), and Dr. Aceves. You get 2 pills pre-op and then fall asleep. They tell you when you're going to the OR, recovery room, and then back to your room.

The second day I was up walking around, showered, and watched a little TV but mostly checked online to see how my students were doing. Day three you have the final leak test and are given your OR report, your chest x-ray, and your post surgery films to take home along with a 2 week supply of Nexium and some Toradol.

I push myself and recover quickly. If you work 12-13 hour shifts, schedule one shift with a day off after it. That way you'll know if you can handle it. I was a little tired but did fine.

Congratulations on getting a date. You're going to love the sleeve. I'm sticking to 3 meals a day of healthy food and can definitely feel the restriction. What the band promised, the sleeve delivers!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
