Hunger... Real or Head Hunger

Hi Guys! As you know I was banded Sept 3rd. and I swear I'm hungry all the time. I'm trying to learn the difference between real hunger or just head hunger. That's where I'm at in this journey right now. Trying to face what got me to the point of being overweight in the first place and replacing it with some good habits instead. Has anybody else been struggling with their internal demons? Instead of eating I went for a long walk last night. I drank some crystal light when I got back and I felt like I had won a small battle. :)

I know what you mean. Last nite it was like I could not get satisfied and the day before I was not that hungry (was still on liquids) Mushies starting today. Anyway, Congrats on you deciding to walk instead of eat. That is great! Keep up the great job!!

Thanks Bama!

I'm still struggling with making sure I eat the right things as my band has nothing in it and I'm a month post op. I only have to wait till the 9th for my fill though. I have a lot of back problems and while I was walking last night my sciatica started acting up again. Today, I am going to take it easy. Say a little prayer for me, lol! It's my sons 13th Birthday and he's asked me to bake him a chocolate cake. Oh! the temptation...

Hope your feeling better and all went well with the birthday and cake. Don't know if I could do that, but then when it comes to our babies... I started mushies yesterday and I have nothing in my band either. I've been making chicken salad and crab salad in the food processor and is sooooo good. I went back an hour after I ate and got seconds, but not as much. Just have to drink after my 20 mins and I'm sure that will help. Just craving meats. Dr. told me to start using measuring cup, which I'm allowed 1/8 veggie and 1/8 carbs and 1/4 meat for a total of 4 oz each meal. My fill is not until Oct 31st, but I start soft reg food next week. :) Just have to be mindful. Am walking every other day, which feels great until I get home, then I can hardly move, but will get stronger. I do hope your back is better. Be careful with that :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
