started mushies and gained weight

Recommended Posts

I know right now i shouldn't be too concerned or worried about where the number on the scale is especially considering i'm not even 2wks post op yet.. BUT... i started eating mushes this weekend and have been in heaven with the scrambled eggs, cauliflower etc etc but this morning show'd that i had actually gained weight. Firstly i was shocked at how much that gain affected me all i wanted to do was to climb back into bed and hide.

i'm sure i'm not alone and this weight fluctuation is perfectly normal as my body adjusts but it was still quite shocking to see a number i was never expecting....

Don't panic some will be Fluid, some will be glycogen stores as you did hellish pre op diet. Its quite common to gain at this stage (so I've read) mushies seem reasonably calorific.. Get healed first then watch those scales go down....

No worries....you healing and changing......! I wouldn't even look at a scale for a few weeks. Worry about getting better....drink your water! It WILL work! Lisa

Same thing is happening to me (11 days post op)- I'm trying to ignore that part & listen everyone's advice. This is a time for healing & I also remind myself that I have lost 11 inches & that hasn't fluctuated ... Hang in there, I feel your distress

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
