Any one have a that was stupid moment?

Recommended Posts

I went through the first couple of months without a stuck episode, but have had a few minor ones since my fill. All due to my own fault of getting distracted while eating and swallowing too fast. Usually within seconds, I think that was dumb on my part because I know it was going to get caught even before it did.

My whole life seems to be one big "that was stupid" moment! (j/k)

I actually just had one two nights ago. I was eating mostaccioli and wasn't paying attention. I was too busy talking with my family. Next thing I knew, I was sliming up a storm and really stuck. It ended up being only the second time I've ever PB'd since being banded.

We all have moments like that I think :)

Mastaciolli - that's what I like to hear! How much volume can you handle?

I love hearing that you only have PB'd twice Missy. I have not yet and have been banded for six months and sometimes I wonder, is everything really working in there? But I am losing and following the rules so I'm guessing that helps.

You have done phenom!!

Yes! Since my last fill, I have gotten (mildly) stuck on chicken twice. The last time I walked away from my dinner for the night and it was a bit painful. I have not yet PB'd or Slimed though.

The worst I find, is when your child is wanting you to answer questions mid-chew. lol

I have had a few of those moments. Nothing as bad as getting stuck or PB'ing. Just that discomfort feeling of something working it's way VERY slowly through the band. Then I know I either took too big of a bite or just didn't chew well enough before swallowing.

The worst for me is when I wait too long before eating and I am soooo hungry, I go back to old eating habits, and the band always lets me know it.

There are times that as I swallow and feel the food going down my throat that I know I will soon be visiting the porcelain throne. But by then it is too late and I simply stop eating to see whether or not it is going to make it through.

One stick in 7 months post op. Was eating a turkey frank and did not cut it up small enough and then did not chew well and swallowed and had a stuck. Did not PB or slim but was uncomfortable for about 30 minutes. Got up and walked around until it went through. Was not thinking. This AM ate one half of a strawberry and thought it was going to stick, but it went through ok but I had to stop eating for about 3 minutes until I was sure it was down.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
