My IBS has gone.....

Recommended Posts

How are you ladies going? I searched IBS and found this thread. I am 2 months lap banded and find I am still having trouble with IBS on some days. Other days I go without passing anything at all. I have just started a food diary and am literally writing down everything I eat and all movements so that I can take it to the dietician. So frustrating, I am not celiac and have no food allergies as I have been extensively tested, however food intolerances are a whole other world of hurt. I am lacking so much energy. Any tips would be well received :)

Hi ada since I posted the thread originally I've had only two bouts of diahorrea that were very short lived (unlike the old days) and alot of days of not going at all. A very new concept to me. I also keep a food diary and have come to the conclusion its high stress/emotional states that triggered my episodes. I dodge bread, fried foods and dairy most of the time so its definatly not them. But I do get a very spastic bowel if I'm upset.. Hope you get it sorted and some improvement soon. ;)

Best wishes to you all! I tend to associate most of the problems with wheat and the by-products of same. But, even if you are not allergic or celiac, you might have intolerance for it. Our wheat is bad in the USA, because it has been so cleaned up. Best wishes to all sufferers!

Zinghy...

I also have IBS and a bit of other digestive issues. All of which cleared up right after surgery. I noticed that my IBS came back a bit and it was from the whey Proteins which are pretty much made from dairy!

I have since started taking Lactaid when I have any of those products like shakes, or bars or Protein shots and presto, no more IBS symptoms!

I also take a pro-biotic every day and I could not be happier. Like all of you I would not like to go out to eat, I would always make a mental note of where the rest rooms where when ever we went out anywhere and I would decide on events and locations based on the availability of using a restroom. I spent a lot of time through out my younger and adult life miserable and now I'm feeling AMAZING!

Lisacaron so glad you feel better. Ibs is a really miserable condition. Its so hard to say what it was or wasn't that caused the symptoms. My diet is unrecognisable nite to my old one..

All of my IBS symptoms have completely gone since my surgery...until today< I had a bite of cupcake with sugar icing...ugh, I won't do that again, I was sick for an hour. And another great thing since surgery, NO GERD! wow who knew....double bonus... :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
