I am sure this question has been asked a million times but I cant seem to find it on here. I had a stuck episode with a bite of chicken and it came up but now I keep PB and slimming with nothing coming up. I also have a lot of discomfort in my chest. I am not sure what to do. Any advice would be great. Should I go to the ER?

I have never had that much discomfort before. Maybe call and ask before going. My doctor has someone on call 24/7 does yours? Feel better. Maybe have a Popsicle

I have been stuck 2x but those were solved by itself within 3-4 minutes. I assume drinking some liquid may wash it down, but only sip it.

You might still have a little something stuck. Go to the bathroom. Make any effort to swallow down the slime. This will cause it to build up. The little stuff will move down or come back up. Then you'll prolly want to do liquids for 24hrs as you probably irritated.

I had this happen once. I went and had 1 cc taken out of my band and within an hour whatever was stuck went down! What a relief! I still have not had it put back in and was worried I would start to gain weight back, but at 18 months after my surgery im down 95 lbs. 5 more lbs to my goal weight of 130!

Mrs D,

The bodies natural response to particles being stuck in the throat is to create mucous. This acts like a trap catching particles as it makes its way down to the stomach in hopes to dislodge or remove the particle.

If you are continuing to create slime, it's because your body is still perceiving something as being stuck.

Many times after being stuck

1) We may PB the food matter and feel relief, but in reality, there's still more there. Depending on how long the PBing has been going on and if there were any stomach spasms (as if you were going to vomit) the stoma could be tightening, making even smaller particles more stucky worthy. In this situation you just ride it out. There really is nothing we can do but wait it out, or try a papaya enzyme.

2) For those especially bad stucks where you get nauseous and vomited it can take a few minutes for the body to catch up to the reality that you are no longer stuck. These kind of stucks require more babying so let it settle down before trying fluids. Stay on fluids to ensure there's no increased inflammation before moving into mushies/solids.

Haha, just got my first lesson on remembering to chew...luckily it was only soft reclaimed ham...and was able to regurgitate it quiet easily .....but it tasted soooo good....the first time round ...lol

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
