Looking for a Fill in Ohio

Recommended Posts

I had surgery in Arizona almost 3 years ago. I had an upper GI in February of this year and everything was fine. I just moved back to Ohio and am having a heck of a time finding a doctor in Ohio that will accept me as a cash-pay patient and resume my fills for me without making me have another upper GI or EGD. The Cleveland Clinic will take me but wants $800 for another UGI when I just had one 6 months ago and can supply the surgical report. I have health insurance but they won't cover bariatric care whatsoever. I also called Summa Hospital in Akron Ohio and they won't deal with cash pay patients. Any suggestions where I could go for a fill? At this point, I may just need to fly back to Phoenix to get my fills and this is all very upsetting.

I know most clinics will want some kind of up front fee for a transfer patient. I was banded in Cincinnati and off the top of my head I want to say they charged $500 to US patients and $1000 to patients banded in Mexico. The clinic is excellent though and I highly recommend them. It's Cincinnati Weight Loss Center which I believe is now under the wing of UC Health. http://uchealth.com/weightloss/

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
