October 2013 bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! Just got word today that I will be banded on October 10. I have to go see my doctor once more, give more blood and go sit in a lapband class all prior to surgery. I am so excited. Any other October bandsters?

I am October 15th. I'm excited to make the change but nervous too. Mostly worried about the pre-op diet, LOL.

How is your pre-op diet going, Kelli1016?

It's good. I hit my pre-op weight loss goal a few weeks back. I see the doctor next week (I think, don't have my calendar in front of me, lol) and I'm guessing she's going to put me on a liquid or reduced diet until my sugery date...woop woop! Those'll be some good times. Ha ha. I haven't gained any but I haven't lost any more either (well, I've been teetering by about 3lbs). I've kind done OK with the plan they gave me but I do need to ramp up my exercise.

Does your doc or center have you on a specific diet?

Yes, I'll start my liver reduction diet on Sept 24th for surgery on Oct 15th. I'm really scared of failing, which is a recurring theme in my life, LOL!! I'll just have to give myself NO CHOICE!!

My doctors office wouldn't give a surgery date before you hit the pre-op weight loss. It's hard. I struggled with my last 5lbs for a couple weeks -- which was super frustrating. But you CAN do it! Best of luck!!! :-)

I start my pre op diet on 9/26. I am allowed 4 ounces of lean Protein, 2 cups of veggies, Protein Shakes and any 0 calorie drinks. I am trying to prepare myself mentally for 10 days of this and the liquid diet for 2 weeks post op. we can do this....mind over matter.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
