Feeling down... Not where I need to be

Recommended Posts

Yes i did the research on the band and weighed the pros and cons of all but it doesnt compare to actually getting the band to only find out weight loss isnt guaranteed and its also not gonna come off as easily as i'd hoped.

This whole bandsters hell is new to me and we're all in some way or another dependent upon routine 'Fills' and chasing the 'green zone'

Thats something i found out once the band was installed.

Bandster hell snuck up on me too and I never heard about it before surgery. LOL Pissed me off too.

I have a few friends that have gotten the sleeve. One is doing great and the other two have Had many complications. They also have to watch what they eat to a T or they will start gaining back. I'm a nurse and the reason I chose the band was because I saw it as not so permanent. As with the sleeve they actually cut some of your stomach out. And as you know once some of an organ is removed they can not put it back. I think with any procedure that a person goes through there are always going to be uphill battles. However be patient and work through them. I know the fills can be a pain however it's just all about maintenance of the band. Just keep going forward. But there is maintenance with the sleeve as well. Not so much as in fills but in other ways. Either way they are both tools to help with weight loss.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
