Keep appealing UHC

Recommended Posts

Well this is my first post . . . . I do want to Thank all of you for your daily entries. I have devoured this website since I made the commitment to go with a lap-band. I have UHC. My first try at approval was returned denied because my BMI was only 37.6 with several co~morbidities. (Hypertension, PCOS, Infertility, High Trigl., elevated sugar levels and of course zzzzzzzzz snoring:notagree .) I was not going to give up I called the health care line at UHC and their reply was that I needed to gain 18 pounds so my BMI would be 40. My GP physician was infuriated. He has know me for 18 years and since he knew me best he fired off a letter to UHC. (Don't forget your subscriber ID# on the letter or it will never reach your file). I just got my answer yesterday . . . . APPROVED.

I guess what I am saying is DON'T give up on getting approved through insurance. I read all the tips on this site daily. Thanks for being there for me.

The journey has begun . . . .

Glad to hear of your approval! I also have UNC and have found them quite helpful. It would have been a shame to gain weight to lose weight. :Banane13:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
