I need some encouragement...

I have been throwing up everyday for a week. My dh wants me to call the doctor, but I know I have been throwing up because I have been eating things that get stuck and then drinking to try and get them down. Why do i keep doing this? It is mostly at dinner. I just seem to lose it in the evening and want to eat if i am hungry or not.

Please say nice things to me....

Everytime you throw up it irritates your esophagus, it would be a vicious circle if you have been doing it daily for a week. You need to give it rest and time to heal so I would suggest doing liquids or mushies for a day or so. I really cant help you in the eating at night thing because I am the same. I find I am really munchy at night and eat for the hell of eating.

All I can say is chew better, dont drink to get rid of a blockage it makes it worse, and dont let the circle keep happening, get it under control before you do some damage, like slip your band.

Supportive hugs for you though because I so know what you are going through.

I think that Kellybelly is right, you need to let your tummy settle down and I would even go total liquids for a full day plus before going to mushies again. Can you tell when you are truly hungry? like tummy growling and gurgling? This is when I would drink very warm to possibly hot peppermint tea and let it go in slowly. Use a little honey to give you a little energy but definitely get your tummy to settle down. You are worth taking care of and the band is a fickle thing. You need to learn how to read it for your own sake and everyone is a little different. Thats not bad, just different. BTW, 34 lbs is pretty nice don't you think? You are definitely on your way!

I agree!! I was just saying at a support group last night that if I were to get in this situation I'd go liquids for a WEEK to let things settle down. Allowing this cycle to continue could lead to real problems over time. Take it GENTLY and realize you have to heal before you can move forward.

Been there done that. These are some smart folks here so I also did liquids and mushies once I got it through my thicck head that I was hurting myself and not learning from the pb. Check out the food thread and look for some mushies that you could try. We get bored with our food so we try to eat the old stuff and it just doesn't go down. If you are eating and you know you can't swallow another thing......spit it out. If you have to chew up somthing for the flavor and spit it out..do it becuase it is not worth going through the trouble of bringing it back up.

Good Luck fiveholts.....great job on the 34 pounds.....YEAHHHHH

Thanks, everyone. I didn't get anything stuck or throw up today. I had lots of opportunities to eat naughty stuff but didn't. I decided it isn't worth the pain and I am afraid of slipping my band by throwing up. It was nice to go a day without feeling sick. I've done so well so far - I think I just had a freak out. I have a lot of stress and my mom will be here tomorrow for a week and I haven't seen her in 3 years. She is critical and I am nervous.

Oh, don't let the band become your enemy. Need to treat your band like you want to be treated.......with kindness. Do be careful. Avoid the foods that just don't agree with you and your band.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
