Feeling defeated

Recommended Posts

It's been over a year (5/2012) and I'm "only" 40lbs down... And still have a way to go! I would like to lose a minimum of 70lbs more however I'm not seeing that scale move! I get an adjustment like clockwork every 4wks and the scale will go down about 3-5lbs and either stay steady or regain about that much by the time the nxt adj comes around. I feel restricted and my diet primarily consists of salads, Soups, yogurt, Protein Shakes, chili, fresh fish and veggies...every once in awhile I will have some wine or ice cream (again...periodically).. I exercise 3-4x a week for 30-45 min intense tabata, kickboxing, strength training type regimens buuuut collectively it's NOT WORKING.. I'm really scared and desperate bc I keep thinking I didn't go through this journey of Lapband to only succeed 1/4 of the way! My MD and staff just keep saying workout harder, eat differently and I don't know how to do anymore of both.. My body is clearly stubborn (always has been in weightless w PCOS) and it seems to have adjusted to the band and this is it!! Pleeeease if someone can share if they've had a similar issue and eventually had a breakthrough I would appreciate some ideas and stories of hope!!

IMO-The band is a tool to use in conjunction with a healthy low calorie diet. During the losing phase of your journey, it's important to know the calories going in and the calories being burned.

The band helps us to lose weight by mitigating our appetites which allows us to avoid those binges and eat sensibly 3 times a day. Without the band, I'm sure I'd consume more calories than I burn. Do the math and you should be able to drop more weight. Not that 40 lbs is anything to sneeze at. If you can drop 25 lbs year, you can be at your goal in 3.

Don't forget u could be losing inches and getting toned. Remember muscle weighs more than fat. Just a thought.

I think ur doing awesome. I know PCOS sucks for weight loss. In ur kick boxing class think of kicking PCOS! Lmao ;)

You say you feel restriction...I have learned that that means many different things to many different people...what dose that mean, and what effect does that have for you?

Regardless of what you eat, and how much, what is your mental status towards food? Do you think about eating often? Imagine or dream about wonderful scrumptious delicious meals?

Are you a calorie counter? And are you worried about not getting enough food - calories in per day?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
