I am a hair stylist and only work 3 days a week. Well I am having my surgery on Tues the 13th. My next day to work is Sunday. Will that be enough time off. I just recently changed jobs so I'm still new and don't wanna ask for more time off than I have to.

Well, you better discuss it with your doctor. I stayed overnight in the hospital and it took a good week before I felt better but everybody's body is different. I had lortab for pain post op.

You'll be on your feet all day if you're a hairdresser so just be aware that this is major surgery and you might want to let your job know you're having surgery. You might be a little uncomfortable. Good luck!

Everyone is different. I had my band placed on a Friday and I went back to work (desk job) on the following Tuesday. I also had no pain or nausea and my boyfriend insisted on driving me to and from the office because he was worried that with the liquid diet I was less alert. You might want to wait and see how you're feeling. Listen to your body and your doctor of course. Best of luck!

I don't know.... What happens if you're not ready?

I'm having my surgery on the 12th and I am returning to work on the 20th. I'm a librarian, so the weight lifting restriction is going to be an issue, but I guess I can work around that. I feel very confident that I'll be able to go back to work as quickly as I am.

I asked the same question and got varying responses. I was able to go back to work in 3 days. But again keep this in mind you may be a bit week and have a funny feeling walking around and moving bec yr body has to get use to the object in yr body. Make sure you drink a lot of Water and take yr Vitamins. Keep posted how it worked out for u.

I have a week before I have to get back to work, I've been told that that should be plenty of time.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
