Telling your job

I told them. I've heard horror stories of bulimia intervention days that people were surprised with because they didn't tell their coworkers!

I haven't had to tell anyone because I am a teacher and had the surgery over the summer. I'm not sure how I will handle it when I go back to school in a few weeks. I really don't want co-workers to know because it would inevitably make its way to students. There are a lot of gossipers at my school!

I have only told a few people, because I don't want the negative responses I would get from some people. I didn't even want my kids to know, but they have both been to the spots with me over the summer so now they know!

When asked I will just tell people I am eating healthier and exercising which will all be true!

I wish I had a good support system but I don't. I am very grateful I have all of you!

I went out to eat with colleagues and ordered something I had eaten a few weeks prior but this time I'd just gotten a fill and it was BRUTAL. I had to excuse myself 4 times to go to the bathroom. I can see why the bulimia interventions could happen. Lol

I worked for an evil man who fired me when he found out that I had the surgery he said it was not necessary and that I took time off of work that wasn't medically necessary.. unbelievable!

I was open with my co workers we are really close at times I feel they were and are more supportive than some of my family also another co worker got the sleeve several months before I was banded and she was nervous about what people would think but after seeing the great support I received she became very open with her surgery so we continue to support each other.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
