My first Fill 8/8/2013

Recommended Posts

Simple question: Are fills painful? I simply dislike needles but I found I do better if I know what to expect upfront. Surprises are not good for me. Please let me know how your first fill went. Nervous here.

I had my first fill this morning. It was no big deal at all. I barely felt the needle going in, and it was out pretty quickly. The whole thing took about 5 minutes. It was so easy and painless. Good luck!

I was totally freaked out for my first fill three weeks ago. The nurse digging looking for the port hurt worse than the needle.

Today was my second fill - got another 2cc - but gotta be honest it was very uncomfortable. I think the tech I had today was just not as delicate. Got this weird gurgling feeling in the port as she was doing it. Felt nothing last time. Think it all depends on who is doing it.

Update: my first fill was completed last Thursday. It wasn't bad at all. BUT, the doc did have to dig around a little to find the port. Wasn't really painful as much as annoying. I definitely feel more tightness.

I was nervous too. For me, it was a little uncomfortable-- not the needle, but the actual filling. It was nothing I couldn't handle though. By the next day the discomfort had disappeared and I am now trying to decide how much to eat so that I don't feel the discomfort. Fills don't seem to be bad.

Had my first fill today and it was pretty uncomfortable but the discomfort was gone quickly. Very doable

I got my first fill last week. It was uncomfortable and I was concerned that it would feel that way forever. Now I can't even tell it was filled at all. I'm concerned that I might be eating too much for the first time since my surgery in June.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
