my band slipped

Recommended Posts

Just had X-rays done at the emergency room and my band slipped. The attending said he is calling my surgeon... I'm sure they are going to remove it but will they either put another one or will they do the sleeve or something.. I'm only 6months out! I'm so sad

I am so sorry.

I would not let anyone touch your band until your bariatric surgeon has a look for himself. A lot of well meaning radiologists and other doctors often try to diagnose band issues and fail miserably because they're not trained in bariatrics.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that your surgeon has good news.

Did they tell you what kind of slip you have? Did the stomach prolapse over the band? I'm sorry you're going through this. I'd not choose to have another band. (I did have two bands. I am now bandless.) From what I was told, once a band slips, future slips are more likely. I wish I had known before undergoing the second surgery.

Good luck to you. I hope all goes well.

When my band slipped I went into surgery with three possible outcomes: Band removed; band restitched; band restitched and plication. My doctor said he wouldn't know until he got in and looked around to see what was going on which option I would end up with. I was fortunate that he was able to restitch and do plication. If you have a doctor that is approved to do plication, it greatly reduces the possibility of future slips.

Hi I to just had surgery as my band slipped. The worse thing is mine was a rare slip only 2-4 percent this happens to and I was the lucky one. It's a back ward slip or something like that. I had it replaced on Monday so I am a week post op tomorrow and still in the world of hurt. But thankfully I have very Good pain relief. Hope all goes well and good luck :)

When my band slipped I couldn't eat or drink anything I could hardly hold down Water, it would feel like I ate a really big meal.. When it was actually a sip of water.. I would throw up anything I tried eating. Mine slipped twice.. Both times they removed the Fluid from my band 4cc the first time and the 3cc the second time. He tried refilling it to see if it would go back because it only slipped very little the first time.. But 3 weeks later it slipped again, they removed the Fluid again and I have some restriction still but not as much.. Trying to watch what I eat so I don't gain but I will see my surgeon on August 5th.. Hopefully we can do the surgery soon.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
