This is just my opinion, but I wouldn't trade doctors just because there is a small delay in appointment time. If you trusted him to do surgery on you and are happy with his care overall, then it's worth the wait.

I like Mis's advice but if it was me I'd probably still try to get a fill. Lol. Honestly, I doubt you can find a doc that would just 'do a fill' for you. There's usually some kind of transfer fee for new patients so unless you're Daddy Warbucks it's probably not worth it. Fills are pretty standard fare but anything can be screwed up by the wrong person. They can even nick your tubing causing a leak if someone makes a mistake.

My surgeon won't fill for 6 to 8 weeks post-op so I wouldn't worry too much about waiting till 9 weeks.

I just got my first full yesterday. 7 weeks post op. Honestly I don't feel any different regarding restriction. Just eating my portions and staying hydrated!!! Hang in there!

I wouldn't switch doctors because of that but I can understand why you'd be worried! I'm scheduled for a fill 3 weeks after my surgery, but that seems a little soon to me. Did anyone else have a fill that soon?

No worries. I was banded 7 months ago. I know every surgeon is different in terms of eating guidelines. My surgeon had me on a liquid diet 2 full weeks after surgery. I was so afraid of something going wrong I followed everything to the letter...but I don't recommend worrying like I did. Just listen to your body, it will tell you in one form or another what it can and cannot tolerate. You are still in the healing phase, it can be frustrating but it's super important to go easy on the tummy. Protein shakes were a life saver for me. I know the feeling of struggling to take small bites and chew...I think every banded person understands this. Everyone uses different techniques. For me, I happened to have a set of super tiny forks I got in Korea. I refused to use childrens utensils, I'm a grown woman, but it works for some people. I promise if you use a small fork, it will help you take smaller bites. I always put my fork down between bites, and aim to chew 30 times before swallowing. Not trying to overwhelm you....but looking back I realize the importance of breaking these habits from the get go, it makes the rest of the journey much easier...like I said, I'm no Dr, just telling you what worked for me...but it takes time, be patient, it will all come together!! :-)

I would wait. Why would you want a fill by someone who is unfamiliar with your case? Unless your doctor recommended someone for you to see there is no reason you can't wait. Stick with your doctor. I'm on vacation and I was supposed to see my surgeon in early July. I asked him if I should get a fill while out of town. He said no, there is no reason to see someone else. He maid an appointment for me for August 9th. I'm doing pretty good so far. I really feel I'm getting close to the green zone, not there yet but I wouldn't go to another doctor , I'm going to wait until August 9th.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
