I am a little anxious any advice?

Recommended Posts

I am nervous/ embarrassed to talk to my Dr. today It is the first time I am talking to her about a referral. I really hope having WLS will help my back problems I have not slept well in over a week.I have been obese most of my life but it has always been something I don't talk about. Did anyone else feel this way or am I the only one? Do you have any advice? anything I should ask her or talk to her about?

I can't imagine any doctor that would not be thrilled to see a patient be proactive about taking back his/her health. Go in with this in mind and the words will come out just fine.

Hello, your PCP has your ticket for band land. Without a medical clearance you cant have surgery. Don't be embarrassed, go for it. The more research you have the more willing your Dr will be there for you. Good luck. Im off to the hospital for surgery. :)

Nothing you share with your doctor should be embarrassing. This is a mere reflection of your feelings regarding being obese etc. As a nurse, patients who are forthcoming and confident yield the best results because they recognize that a proactive attitude can give them the success they seek. So go in there and just tell him that today is the day you want to change your life.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
