Need fill but ...

Recommended Posts

Ok, don't know how to explain but here goes:

My second fill was about 5 weeks ago, I know I need one because I'm not in the green zone. However, I've been eating larger portions for the last week or so which had caused the "side stitch" feeling. I know this is completely my fault. I guess I'm wondering if another fill is a good idea? I see my surgeon tomorrow but wondered if anyone else felt something similar or had advice?

Thanks, and sorry for any confusion!

I get a side stitch sometimes when I've eaten too much. Cut your portions down, eat slower, allow yourself to feel satisfied sooner. I don't know for sure, but I choose to treat that 'stitch' as a warning signal, like when your car is running hot. You don't want to wait until your body is sending you warning signals.

And I get those even when I'm not in the green zone. I think it's more about the WAY I'm eating than whether the band is well restricted.

Thanks, I agree. I'm eating too big of portions, plain and simple. I've been working hard on eating healthily and slowly. I tried the "eat slow" app where it dings after 1 minute - it's amazing how long 60 seconds can be! I think I will go forward with a third fill and cut back on portions.

Thanks again!

Ugh, so went in today and gained a little over a pound :-( I knew it was going to happen but still a bummer to see. My surgeon walks in and says "what happened?" not being rude, just concerned. Told him I had been stressed and eating too much, blah blah and he said, when you feel this way, come in let us help. So nice to have a supportive surgeon and office staff!

Stopped at grocery store on the way home and stocked up on Soup, fresh fruit and veggies, and fish so feeling optimistic. Glad I started a gym routine - back at it tomorrow!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
