Fill last week and feel no restriction

Recommended Posts

I had a fill last Tuesday I believe he told me he put 3cc's in. After almost a week I have felt no restriction. I called and got in to him tomorrow, because I am headed on vaca for 5 weeks and don't really want to go month and lose nothing! Has anyone went back in after a week to get more? Any suggestions?

This is strictly my personal opinion based on my own experience as well as what I've read here, but I wouldn't get another a fill after only a week and I definitely wouldn't right before vacation. Sometimes it takes a little while to feel the full results of the fill and by getting another fill so soon you're risking accidentally getting too tight. What's worse, you could find yourself on vacation and too tight, forced to either suffer through it or to go to an ER.

Just my opinion but I think it's a bad idea.

I've gone back within 4 days. My first fill was on a Thursday. I turned around and went back the following Monday for a second fill.

There are a ton of differing opinions on this subject. Mine is that you won't likely get any restriction until you get to at least 6 CC. Some people here have had over six fills and are above 9 CC. Others have an empty band and claim to be in the green zone (I'm a little skeptical of this).

I personally felt a bit of restriction on the last fill. Thought I was in the green zone for several days, but it's starting to subside. Have my 4th fill scheduled today.

My first fill was 3cc's...I feel no restriction either. My doc told me I had to wait at least 4 more weeks...kind of like easing myself into more restriction, I guess. I don't know if I'd go right before vacation either...at least not until you were better versed with how your band is going to work for you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
