70 pounds in 7 months

Recommended Posts

Down 70 pounds so far...has been a big learning experience. I feel great so far and am adjusting to all the compliments I get. It is so wonderful to be able to pull something out of the closet I thought I would never wear and it fits easily! 50 more pounds to go!

Wow 10 pounds a month how wonderful, you must feel great. Good for you. I'm just getting started I hope I can even lose half that in that time.

It's weird because it sort of seems like I just now feel like I have lost a significant amount. I just have this feeling that the last 50 will be stubborn. It's also interesting that during this journey I can see the food issues I really have, like choosing or making more food than I know I want or can eat. It's so hard to train yourself to eat and think about food differently than you have all your life!

I agree, it's hard to think about this being permanent. I have lost and gain all my life and now it's hard to get that ol feeling out of my head, "this is forever for me" I now have no more clothes that fit and I've been hitting the thrift stores and clearance sales. I don't love working out but I go everyday because I know it is what my body needs me to do. I have 10 lbs to go to my first goal and my son's wedding is in 11 weeks so I can do that 10 lbs I know I can. Congrats all your success. You go girl :)

I especially love this comment. I think I knew it all along but denial helped me avoid facing my addictions. Do you also find that foods that you used to love now taste bland? I once loved hamburger helper doctored up with fried onion crisps, jalapenos and extra cheese. I had it about a month ago and ugh! Not going back to that again. Back to Salmon and salad.

You are amazing ! WAY TO GO !!!! The comment about making too much food, more than you can eat ? Me too ! I pack a small lunch every day but still bring home 1/2 full containers ! I still have it in my head that there wont be enough lunch and ill end up being hungry ! My hubby packed a lunch for me 1 day,( his idea of a normal lunch ) I could of made 3-4 meals out of that 1 bag ,. and to think I used to be able to eat that much ! EEEEEEEK !!! no wonder I was obese ! Keep up the good work, and yes, God bless thrift stores, because they're where I get 90% of my cute , slimmer clothes ! Great job ! Keep it up !

Absolutely! My weakness was Pasta, Alfredo. I ate some form of Pasta at least everyday. I have had a bite a couple of times and I don't even want it anymore. I too was a hamburger helper junkee..loved it. Doesn't even sound good anymore. I at first thought I made such big quantities of food for other people because I love to cook but now I see its part of the hidden food addictions I have. Our society seems to be centered around food. We go out to eat to a restaurant as "something to do" as a form of entertainment, and now frankly it's a waste of money because we have to take most of it home! And a salad is no good the next day brought home from a restaurant! Another thing I experienced is a sort of "panic" the day before my surgery- thinking "gee I will never be able to chow down on a huge burger! Then my motivation kicked in and said "Lori, that hamburger is what got you where you are now!" So definitely this journey is a learning experience not only about the lapband and what to do but also about myself !

I do the same thing. I have learned to pack small amounts (I bought some small round lock and lock containers from QVC)for my lunch but still end up bringing things home. I find myself putting yogurt and also a small low fat baby bell cheese in my lunchbox too thinking I will get hungry and I don't. This is part of our success that we are now able to recognize these things! Yes, I go to thrift stores too..not going to buy new until goal!

Keep focused on what your doing and don't beat yourself up if you get a hankering for a sweet and eat it. Just recognizing the fact we shouldn't do it and why is part of this journey! Keep is informed of your progress on here. :0)

I totally agree I was worried that i wouldn't be able to eat pizza and I had a piece (not the four I use to) and it was too much work and i don't want it. I also struggle with ordering food like I use to not sure why i do this and eat nothing. The one big thing I have noticed is just how fast people eat and that one is hard because I feel i have to keep up but naturally I can't. I haven't told anyone about the surgery and people really do notice but I am losing so i don't care!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.
