July 1 is the day

Recommended Posts

I got my approval letter and surgery date set all in the same day. I've been preparing myself by substituting meals for shakes for about a month so I believe I'm ready for the 2 week pre op.???

I'm really nervous and excited about this time in my life.

Congratulations on getting your approval and date. It is a really good idea to try out the diet ahead of time and see what things you like and don't like. If you do eat food, follow lapband eating guidelines, small bites, lots of chewing, and no drinking while eating. It helps to start to practice the skills. Best wishes.

I'm like you, so grateful that I "stumbled upon this site!" At my last appointment with my surgeon, I told him that I had been reading everything I could to learn and soak up information including a website or two and mentioned an app / website. He asked me which one. I told him this one. He said, "Oh, that's good. It's really the best one out there!" I had not really posted to any of the boards before that and had been really cautious. Once he said that, I felt like it was so much easier to just relax! My instincts were that this would be one of my greatest supports and it really has been and I haven't even been banded yet!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
