I had my surgery Feb 7 and so far I lost 30lbs, idk why but I feel disappointed in that. For some reason I expected it to be more, although its only been 4 months. But now I am doing terribly. I am not eating right I definitely fell off track and I need to hop back on! Eeek!!! Feeling so discouraged!

First, thirty pounds in four months is nothing to be disappointed in. Average is 1-2 pounds a week, so you are right in there where you "should" be.

Second, why do you think you're off track with your eating? Are you hungry often? Or just eating the wrong type foods?

Well it started when I lost my babysitter and couldnt go to the gym. I fell into one of those "well i already messed up so why bother" modes. Now I am eating the wrong foods and im not exercising. I havent gained any weight but i also only lost 2 lbs in the past 5 weeks! I am only hurting myself and im not quite sure why but I need to get back on track.

It sounds like you have a good idea why your loss has slowed. "Not exercising and eating the wrong type of foods".

Everybody sooner or later will have a situation in this journey where we are challenged by issues, such as your no babysitter. You can find a way to make it work for you. Maybe right now, it could be just going for a walk? Taking him/her/them with you? Or even just moving around your home...lots of folks on here talk about DVD's, video games, etc to "workout" with.

As far as choosing the right type of foods, that is still a struggle sometimes for me almost 4 years post op. Not sure we'll ever get completely over that hurdle. But we just do the best we can with that.

Once you've had a chance to get your band properly adjusted, it will help with that hunger. But it takes time. You're probably in whats referred to as Bandster Hell on here. That period of time, where you don't have adequate adjustment/restriction in your band. During that time, its willpower and determination that can make you successful.

You're only 4 months out...don't get that "why bother" in your head...it'll haunt you. Think about why you ARE going to succeed. And you will. Best of luck...and never, ever give up. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
