First Fill On May 29, 2013

Recommended Posts

Why am I more scared of my first fill? I was banded on May 2, 2013 and have lost 24 lbs. How much will they put in my band? I know all Dr are not the same but was just wanting to know if anyone had lost this much and how much Fluid did they get on the first fill? Thanks for the help!

Fills are not that bad. It is just an unknown and far less serious than the surgery. You will be fine. Just remember liquids only for 24 hours after the fill. Best wishes!

When I got my band, I was on liquids for 11days, not mushy but liquids like juice and Water. I lost 15 pounds in 11 days, that was over a pound a day. After I introduced food, the weight stopped falling as fast because my body wasn't in shock anymore. I was nervous about my first fill too, but you will be fine. Surgery is a lot more frightening. They will talk to you to see how you're doing, then they will lay you down feel around the area for the port and they will use a very very small needle for needle. It's a very tiny prick. No blood or anything of the sort and the whole process takes about three minutes. You should do liquids for 24 hours after the fill, I don't follow this rule and always end up throwing up which is sooooo bad for you. So save yourself the headache and do liquids for 24 hours. Good luck!

Thank you for all the help. I did get my fill today 2cc in a 10cc band. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. Down 25 lbs! (Happy Dance!) Loving life and doing what the Dr tells me to do.

I have my first fill on the 12th and I'm more nervous about that then I was the surgery.

Honestly it the part of getting up and walking to a X-ray machine with a needle in my that terrifies me((I'm terrified of needles! When I was younger I use to get dizzy when I saw them so I stopped looking at them-this one I can't ignore though)

Went for my first fill yesterday (banded April 29th) and it wasn't BA at all! A little sting- as if you got a shot or doing bloodwork, but not as bad. It was quick and no pain whatsoever afterwards.

I have to be on liquids for 2 days, mushy for one day, and back to solids after that.

Good luck!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
