This journey has been such a god send but a struggle at the same time!! I was banded 10/11/12 and have lost 85 lbs to date!! I am Hoping to hit the 100 mark by my birthday 06/23, but won't get discouraged if I don't!! My struggle Is I know I look and feel better but when I look at my self in the mirror or go out I still see my big fat self!! I have recently started a new relationship and all I can think about is does he look at all my fat? How can I get past this?? Does it ever go away! Just needed to vent... Thanks!!

Congratulations on your loss so far! I know that self image is a very difficult thing to change. You just need to remember how far you have come in your journey and who you are is not only about a number. :)

1st off- awesome job.

2nd- body imagine, I think is always skewed. I wear a size 14 now and still feel as huge as I need when I wore a 22W. I worry more now when my hubs touches me than I did when I was bigger. For me, I think it will always be a struggle to see myself as smaller. I still have a ways to go, but even if I hit my goal of 140, I am not sure I will feel small then. My mom reached 122 over the summer and she says she still feels fat.

Thank you very much!!! I was barely fitting into a 24 and now 18 are getting too big!! I know I am getting smaller but, especially when I'm out with people smaller than me I still feel very uncomfortable and out of place, I just hope that one day I can start to feel a little comfortable in my own skin!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
