Diarrhea- 1 week post op

I know this may be TMI- but I have been having pretty bad diarrhea today. I was banded last Tuesday (5/9) and am still on the clear liquid part of the diet- I switch to mushies tomorrow. Is this common? I am worried about becoming dehydrated- I continue to drink my water, but feel it is coming out faster than it is going in. Anyone have the same thing at about this point?

I thought I was the only one !!! I was banded the same day. I was in school today and thought I could hold off until I got home. NOPE. I had to GO. So embarrassing.

My stomach is still rumbling- glad I am home!

It's totally normal......I had it too, and so did many others. You're on liquids only, so there isn't much of anything to bind. Mine did not last more than a couple of days, and I would suggest that if you find that you're having an issue for several days, call your doctor.

In a few weeks from now, you may find yourself posting about the reverse problem :P

I too, had it after surgery. I was oked to take Imodium chewables.

Check with your Dr.

I think it's pretty normal. Liquids in, liquids out. Hang in there!

Glad to know it's normal- looking forward to having thin oatmeal for breakfast tomorrow. If it continues tomorrow I will call my Dr and get his opinion- my followup with him is Wednesday morning (Can't wait to get these staples out!!)

I am a week post-op and I have it occasionally. I am on purée foods and I'd say about half of my BM's have been diarrhea the past couple days. It seems to be pretty normal. Hopefully it goes away soon for all of us! Good luck!!

I'm STILL waiting to have a BM. I've taken two doses of milk of magnesia & all It does it make my stomach rumble & cause me to pass gas but still no BM. I believe I need to have one its been over 7days now... & I have lactose intolerance so i've been tryin to have dairy but still nothing.

I'm also lactose I tolerant so I thought my Protein shakes would make me go. I had half c of puréed Beans yesterday. I think that's what got me.

Beans! Great idea Monique. I'll try to puree some tomorrow & see what happens.

This may be the reason that I haven't had a probl going. I've been eating refried Beans, sour cream and cheese regularly! Lol :)

yep, as others said, liquids in and liquids out.....my dr okay'd me to take immodium (as maddawgs did).......i still have a change of clothes here at work just in case.....i also found taking a daily probiotic helps also (i still put one in my protein shake every morning)....

If your still having problem you might want to try magnesium citrate. When all else fails that's what I use. You might want to ask your Dr. first though. It's liquid and comes in flavored or non-flavored you can mix with something if I remember correctly. You can also take a little or a lot depending on your needs. Good luck
