Newbie..Banded 4/9/13...HUNGRY.....

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am new to this forum but have been lurking and reading everyone's posts. I had my surgery on 4/9/13 and have not had a fill yet. I was told my band was placed with no Fluid in it yet. I have my first fill scheduled for Monday 4/13/13. I have noticed that I am getting hungry alot sooner after I have my Protein Shake in the morning. Is this normal?? I am praying when I get the fill it will help as of now I am thinking why did I go through this surgery if I am stil going to be hungry all the time. Advice please.

Hey Sarah! I am in the same vote. I was banded 04/05/13 and hopefully will have a fill on 05/13/13!. I am a starving marvin! It is tough to stay true to myself. I have also increased my exercise from 0 to roughly 15-20km walking a week. Plus toning using weights for my arms. I long for next Monday!!

The first few weeks after my banding, I was eating (or drinking depending on what diet you're on) every 2-3 hours. So I think that is normal. I had my first fill 6 weeks after the surgery and I feel satisfied for 4 hours. Good luck!

It's called Bandster Hell. It took me 4 fills and 4 months to say goodbye to BH. Hope your journey beyond BH is much quicker?

I had very little restriction after my band was put in, after i got past the mushies i found that i was hungary just like i was before surgery. My doctor told me not to be surprised if i lost little weight between the actual banding surgery and my first fill. I ate nothing that required a lot of chewing. Now that i have had my first fill 4/29, I have just a little bit more restriction. I am still hungary after about 2 hours after i eat and thats when you have your Protein Shake.< /p>

After your fill, you will feel a difference.

Good Luck!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
