How long to eat after waking up?

Recommended Posts

Hello All

I have been banded for 4 months now and now at 5.3cc of a 10cc band and I can't seem to eat anything for hours after waking up without causing it to come back up -

Any advice on actions I could do to help this? I am at the point where I can really only eat dinner.

Thanks all!

I always have a Protein Shake for Breakfast but I'm fine within an hour or two of waking to eat if I wanted to.

You can't eat real food until dinner? How do you get in enough healthy food daily?

It sounds like you might actually be a tiny bit too tight.

Yes I am wondering that as well - I can do a Protein Drink at lunch if I sip - I guess a better question would be how long does it usually take you to get used to a new fill? I was filled on Thursday from 4.5 to 5.3.

It can take a couple days, but if you're still having problems with liquids you should call your surgeon. You might need a tiny unfill.

I can't eat in the morning. I usually have a shake or try (try) to get a light yogurt down. 99% it's the shake. I'm ok to eat maybe 1 or 2 which is my typical lunch time anyway. Bands tend to be tight in the morning. I see so w people drink something warm to loosen it? I prefer the shake. I don't want to loosen it :)

I am excited - I ate egg whites tonight and I didn't think that bland eggs could taste so good!!

I ate after working out so maybe it is you need physical activity prior - I have a desk job so I am pretty much immobile all day.

Going to work out in the morning and test my theory later this week.

I just wish Isopure tasted better because that one is the easiest to get down in the morning!

Smiles4Di try Premier Protein shakes. They only come in chocolate but they taste pretty good with 30 g of Protein and only 1 g of sugar. I buy them from Sams Club or Kroger grocery store but you can order on line as well.

Premier Protein shakes are my Breakfast of choice. chocolate or vanilla, 160 calories and 40 grams of protein! And they taste better than any other shake I have tried!

Yes when I first got banded I had Premier Protein - I need to go get them again.

I bought some powder and mix with 1% milk - taste great but it's thick so getting down in the morning can be difficult!

I think this fill is letting me know I am banded which is what I wanted now just need to adjust and keep moving on!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
