Nauseated! Help!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery march 14 and I've been doing great and eating as I've been told. Starting about a week ago, though, I'm nauseated all the time. I even wake up in the middle of the night nauseated. Anyone have any ideas why i might get nauseated so much or even think this is from Lapband?

Are you still taking pain killers? On liquids? Could you be pregnant?

No painkillers or liquids, and no chance I could be pregnant. I'm thinking it has something to do with what I'm eating.

Def discuss with the doc. But I remember when I started solids (eating better...lots of veggies) I too had a little of this happening for a few weeks. Maybe my body just adjusting to new foods, etc. Or maybe just a little stomach virus.

Either way...call the doc.

I was nauseous and on Zofran for a month following my surgery. My surgeon said I had a lot of inflammation and was a slow healer. It didn't matter what I ate, everything made me nauseous. It eventually went away, but I was really regretting my decision to have the surgery. It's been three years now and I have had periods of being unable to eat, it lasts about a week, and then I go back to normal. Endoscopy shows stomach inflammation. It has only happened twice. My Dr says it is just my body's reaction to a foreign object. You should talk to your surgeon though, because everyone is different.

I did the same thing called doctor and got a script for promethazine and always have it on hand just in case but it was gone in a couple of months.

Just curious what are you eating? Are you still doing Protein Shake? Might need one lactose free?

Definitely check in with your surgeon about the nausea.

Are you drinking enough fluids? Nausea is a symptom of dehydration. I did not realize this, and ended up in the ER as a result.

I recall as a newer Bandster that I was extremely challenged to get the recommended amounts of Water every day...and it never occurred to me that the nausea was because of my dehydration.

Hope you feel better...and sipping Water may help you feel better.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
