i saw my surgeon and nut last week. i am so excited to start this journey, but i am also very scared. i have a terrible relationship with food. seriously, i eat all day long and tend to eat a bunch of crap. i have done every diet out there and I've always regained my weight. I'm scared when i read these stories about people regaining all of their weight even with the band. i don't want this to be just an expensive diet. I'm tired of feeling life crap everyday because i weigh too much. is anyone else having these same worries or am i crazy? going for my bariatrition and psych eval tomorrow. wish me luck.

Good luck tomorrow. I will be banded on May 2, 2013 so all I can tell you is the way I look at the band. It is a tool, I will have to do the work! If you are not at this point then I think you are wasting your money and time! But who am I to tell you that? My opinion and 2 cents will not even get you a cup of coffee! I wish you the best.

Good luck!! Oh man do I have/had a love affair with food. 7,000 plus plus plus calories a day I used to consume! I also, as many people on here have tried diet after diet, fad after fad. Having surgery was the last straw for me, I was READY to lose this weight once and for all.

Sure you can gain your weight back, some do, BUT a lot are very successful. Make sure you are also ready in your HEAD to lose this weight, you can't rely solely on the band or on the fills. Remember in here, buying a car, new diets or any other business in life, you will always here the complaints more than the successes of items.

It is definitely a lifestyle change!

BUT, you can do it!!! Think positive and you will succeed.

I wish you the very best!!!

You will have to change your relationship with food and find techniques for dealing with the habit eating.

The band controls your hunger so you are less likely to want to eat the Snacks but it won't stop you.The longer you have been banded the easier eating junk becomes.I have been banded nearly 4 years and could graze all day if I let myself.

I am the same. I am a little over a year out, at goal and am a snacker! I met with my nut today and she is ok because I changed what I snack on. I make my own trail mix because I love the crunchy stuff for snacking. I mix Quacker Oat Squares with sea salt almonds and banana chips (Walmart or Walgreens brand). You just have to find things that are ok. I eat two meals and snack in the afternoon at work. It is funny because I don't snack at home!

Once you get over the liquid and mushy stage you will get off the liquid Protein and my advice is to find quality, healthy foods that you like. It will really help you feel more satisfied. Good luck!

congrats! best thing you can do between now and your surgery is start working on some of those behavoirs. Try taking smaller bites, chewwing longer, putting your fork down between each bite. work on eating without drinking and not drinking until 30-60 minutes after and stop all carbonated drinks. doing these things now will make it easier for you after your surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
