I am new to site. I am very nervous because I got my lapband back in 2008 and in 2010 I had to move away from my surgeon. I had lost my medical insurance and could not afford to see another lapband specialist. I have insurance now and have an appointment for Thursday. I am so nervous none of the side effects were explained to me when I had the surgery. I was only told it was very non-invasive. Now I find all of these dangers and I am so scared. I do vomit occasionally. Maybe twice a week and don't have much restriction but have not had a fill since moved.

Hmmmm... I've had mine since 2009. Because you're new to the site, I'm wondering what these "dangers" you're concerned about are? BTW, I haven't had any band problems....so I'm curious. Thanks

well why dont you wait to see your dr before you start spazzing out on all the (dangers of lap band)....and what could or could not happen...if you are new to this sight, you will see many people who have had the band longer than you and are 100% fine and living a great life....

if you vomit, that is not good and has the makings of being too tight or you are eating too fast or too large of pieces...

as for being (non-invasive)..its major surgery and they cut you to get into your stomach.... so again, write down all your fears and your concerns about the (dangers) and ask the dr about them as he is the best one to ask.

hope you feel better.

I too agree with the last two girls, I have had my band for almost 3yrs. I vomit, have 7.4 ccs in my band and haven't been filled in two yrs or seen in over a yr.my band was fine, and I have no problems at all. You should have researched the surgery and asked more questions before making the decision to have a MAJOR surgery. It should not have been taken lightly.

Wow I thought this was a place to get support, not to be called a liar about what my doctor did or did not tell me or what I should or should not have done before the surgery. Sorry, I just got a little concerned and needed some support. I will be leaving now.

There is a lot of negativity on this site. People love their precious little band and if you say one bad little word about it you will get torn apart! You have to be careful what you say on here. I had trouble with my band before. I am doing good now but I had a lot of trouble adjusting! I hope you get it all figured out! Good luck on your journey!

Awwww that sucks, not everyone is negative and sometimes I think things get taken the wrong way, it's tricky with the written word when you can't hear the sarcasm etc in a persons voice, but please stick with the site because with negative comment there is 100 positive comments :)

I've only been banded for less than a month but I find this site invaluable, I read over previous posts to help me out and I'm always open and honest if you wanted a chat.

Good luck and take care

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
