At the beginning of this journey, seeing other's pics was so inspiring. I dug deep today to find pics that represented why I embarked on the journey. My mind's eye couldn't SEE the progress until I put them side by side. I have a long way to go...but today I relished in how far I have come. I don't intend on giving up or giving in.....today I am as motivated as ever!

I need to do this too, but there are so few before pictures of me... someone would pull out a camera and I'd run!!! I've lost 50 pounds... I'm only 20 pounds from goal and I still run from the camera! However on the rare occasion someone gets a pic now and I see it... I still see the fat me. I honestly look at my photos now and think "Geez, if I'm this large now, I can't even imagine what I must have looked like before." I've gone from a size 22 to a 12/14 but my mental image of myself just hasn't caught up and I'm beginning to wonder if it ever will...

I'm still pre-surgery and completing insurance requirements- but this is something I'm trying to prepare for... The fact I may never be ok with how I look

You will be okay with your results!!! We have to prepare ourselves mentally that we r enough ! And that old person is gone. Although I haven't had mine yet I'm preparing My mind for that .

Just like we had to change our mindset to a life style change to lost weight, we have to change our mindset to accept the changes in our new bodies. It's all about a mindset change.

I'm new to this so forgive me if I'm posting improperly. I was banded on 1/8/13 and I've lost 10-15 lbs. to this point 4/14/13. My dr. Is a bit conservative but I'm really feeling disappointed to this point. I've had 2 fills hopefully getting another tomorrow! I see some folks losing 40-50 lbs in 6 months and I'm really discouraged!! Any similar stories or advice??? Thanks!

Please don't compare your weight loss results with someone else's. We are lose differently. People with more weight to lose, tend to lose more in the beginning. Any weight lost is a victory. When I compared my weight lost to others, I became frustrated. My frustration lead me to fall off the wagon. I have learned a few things since being band:

1. DON'T compare my results with someone else's

2. Everybody's body is different

3. I didn't gain weight over night, therefore I can't expect to lose weight overnight

4. EVERY pound lost is a VICTORY

5. IT DOES GET BETTER!!!!!

Be Encouraged!!!!!

I feel the same way. I absolutely had to do this so that my MIND caught up with reality. The reality is...I was really FAT (not sure I wrapped my head around that 100%) and now the reality is that I am losing weight and my body shows it (not sure I understand that either)....lol. What a journey!! But seeing is believing...I really can't deny either any longer.

I had the same problem. I don't think I truly saw self as fat as I was. I do comparison pics every month and it really helps my head to catch up with what my body is doing although I still tend to focus on the negative areas that still need work.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
