So today I am feeling a little down, of course with losing weight some people get jealous and always have to have some kind of opinion or negativity. My weight lost is noticable now and there is this one girl at work that is always saying she is getting on a diet and then the next day quits. I have always been very supportive even before I got banded and would tell her lets go for a walk during lunch. I was encouraging and wouldn't be negative when she would give up. But yesterday I found out that she said that she doesn't think I am going to stick to my diet. That she gives me a week! I was hurt by that comment. I didn't tell anyone I got banded for this reason... I don't need the negativity. Now she is talking about going to go get injections to lose weight. I don't know what to say to her, but it really bothered me that she would say that about me when all I have been is supportive in her attempts to lose weight.

She is very likely angry at herself, embarrassed by her inability to stay with her dieting, and yes, jealous of your success. If you are close to her, talk to her about how hurtful it is for her to talk behind your back and continue to be supportive of her. If not, I would still talk to her about talking behind your back, then distance yourself from her and keep working toward your goals.

Remember, others can play the tune, but you have to choose to dance to it.

Everyone has to arrive at their own path. I admire you for being supportive, but some people just don't get it. Hang in there. Sounds like you are doing the right things.

Keep up the good work Haters are gonna hate no matter how supportive you are to them. When people down you for your efforts it is because they are really dissatisfied with the lack of effort in themselves. And they think it makes them look good to talk down on someone else. My Motto is I don't care what anyone says or thinks about me because NO ONE knows me like I do. And I am the only one who can control how Jackie feels about Jackie. "I can't control another person's behaviour toward me; neither will I allow their behavior to control me" always remember that saying and stay positive... :)

I gotta agree with Jackie.. Just keep the faith and stay on your path. I would say she's a little green with envy, so consider the source, hold your head up and just carry on. You'll show her.

When we see someone accomplishing something we have not been able to we get scared. She is fearful you will be successful. Support her as uch as you can but don't let her step on your boundries! Kepp up the good work.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
