First two to three bites

Recommended Posts

I had a fill a week ago. Mostly Eating soft foods and started on solids too. Last night, I ate too fast , I"m sure and I was stuck, it took time but i finally threw up some food. After I threw up, I felt cool air going thru the band. It felt so cool. The full day today I was on liquids only. This evening I tried one small bite of soft fish and I feel stuck again. Not stuck like last night, but stuck. Don't know what I should do. Did my band slip? I really know that I need to eat slowly and chew lots. I know it is a learning curve but at the same time I am nervous if something is gone wrong with the band already. Before or after the fill, I find that the first two bites feel stuck as they go down, then it is okay. Is that normal. Should I be concerned? Thanks

First of relax, chances are your band is fine. I would suggest doing liquids for another 24 hours, then do mushies for 24 hours. Your band is swollen and irritated so best not to push it. I would also suggest a call to your doctor to let them know what happened, they are best to advise you.

It is a learning curve after every fill. You think you are eating small bits slowly, but the band tells you otherwise. Best of luck to you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
