So I had the lap band surgery 12/28/12 and I've lost only like 20 pounds at first I was doing everything right but the last few months I've been eating like a fatty lol. I just got my third fill 2 weeks ago I still don't feel any restrictions. I even thought about going on like a straight liquid diet for a week thought that maybe that would help my stomach shrink and maybe iI will start to feel some restrictions? Anyone have any suggestions?

You are still going through bandster hell. That's when you are between surgery and the green zone. It is common for you to be hungry in this stage, but try to limit your intake so you don't gain anything.

I think going on liquids would be a bad idea. All it will do is make you more hungry and more likely to over eat because of it.

It's very possible you don't have adequate Fluid in your band yet, but just be sure you are not expecting the band to do things it's not supposed to do. The band isn't supposed to physically stop you from eating anything. So, when you say you're "eating like a fatty", you have to realize the band won't change that behavior. It will always be your job to make good food choices and stick to band sized portions.

What the band will do is allow you to be satisfied on much less food for longer periods of time.

I'd talk to your doctor at next appointment and let him help you decide if you need another fill.

Best wishes.

I would talk to you doctor also.. you may need just a tiny fill also I would keep a food journal and see if you can see a nutritionist You may also find it help to attend a support group meeting if you have access to one.

Eating like a fatty is your decision, one that your band can do nothing about. I don't recommend doing a liquid diet unless it gets you out of a sugar or carb addictive cycle. Nothing is going to shrink your stomach (with the possible exception of vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery, in which about 80% of the stomach is permanently removed). liquids just do not provide the satiety (the sense of having eaten enough food, which is quite different from feeling "full") that solid foods do, so on a liquid diet you'll be physically hungrier and (if you're anything like me) feeling very deprived. If you go ahead and do a liquid diet, you're going to need a sensible eating plan for when you're done with the liquids, because if you go back to eating like a fatty, your future band success doesn't look promising. I agree with Tom that a meeting with a dietitian is in order.

Great feedback from everyone. Eliminate all sugar. That may help. Good luck in your journey

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
