Wow what a scary experience!

I'm curious though, why were you in a hotel after surgery rather than a hospital?

Where did you have your surgery done?

My surgery was performed at a clinic as an outpatient. I had to travel over 3 1/2 hours so they put me up in a hotel for the night so I could be close in case of complications. Once the pain and vomiting started they sent me to emerg. and then admitted me the next day when it wasn't settling down.

They had given me drugs for nausea but they didn't work. Even with an empty stomach I was still 'manufacturing' stuff. I wondered too if it as from bleeding during surgery combined with swelling and excessive saliva. Thanks for the well wishes.

Thanks for answering our questions. There is always something to learn from good and bad experiences.

Wishing you a quick recovery and awesome results.

Wow I'm so sorry u are having trouble like that. I had mine on 3/21 with little trouble compare to yours and I want them to take it out already. I rather be over weight, and alive, than skinny and sick or dead. Did u have your surgery in Mexico? Also what doctor? I'm two weeks post op and my body feels like its rejectin the port. I'm so uncomfortable and worried. Best wishes. And if I were you, I'd have a reputable doctor take it from out of me. Again best wishes.

I had the surgery done here in Canada by one of the top lapband surgeons. People come from all over Canada to see him. I am not giving up on it yet. I don't want to think I wasted all those big $$ just yet. I am alittle uncomfortable in the abdominal area too but hoping that will subside with time.

I sure hope you feel better soon! I have read on here where some have wished after the surgery that they never had it done but within time they are quite happy with it. My daughter had hers done two years ago and is very happy with hers. She looks fantastic. I have really bad health issues with arthritis in joints, etc and was told the pain would never subside unless I lose weight. This is my last hope.

Did you have to travel to have yours done?

The exact same thing happened to my mom and I'm really worried about her. She got her surgery on 3/26/13 and is having terrible problems. As soon as she came out of surgery she had pain in her chest and a lot of pressure. liquid just kept pouring out of her mouth from her stomach. She aspirated the liquid while she was sleeping the first night in the hospital and got double pneumonia. She was in hospital for eight days in agony. She was lucky to get out so soon. She had a few brief spells of feeling OK and then the terrible pain and pressure (it is severe like she is in agony) would come right back and she can't keep any liquids down. She doesn't throw up it just flows up kind of effortlessly out of her mouth. I feel so sad for her because she deserves better. I just want her to be OK. The doctor wants her to keep it in until 4/8/13 which is a Monday and I feel like this is about pride for him. Out of his 2,000 lap bands they have all been successful and this will be the first that he will have to take out. I just thank God that she didn't get the sleeve and she can get this out of her.

Oh yeah and my mom of course had nothing to drink before and right after surgery. Don't know what or where the liquid came from.

This happened to my husband band in on a Tuesday doc said he was was Very swollen and the band was right and only left 2cc he stayed over night felt fine came home wed was fine Thursday morning non stop vomiting took him to doc they took out the 2cc and have him a shot of steroids to reduce swelling felt a little better then midnight hits throwing up for 6 hours non stop rush him to ER still throwing up no meds were helping until he had a severe pain in his chest and I screwed for the nurse and they have him a different medicine which eased the pain but after the swallow test the doc said the and slipped and it needs to be replaced but we chose to have it removed because of the risks of it slipping again

I feel so bad for both of you. I know my kids were so worried. Still sounds like it is either too tight or there is alot of swelling or both. Wishing her a speedy recovery.

It just goes to show how everyone is different. My daughter had hers done 2 yrs. ago without one problem and she looks great. Hope things get straightened around for you and your husband.

Hope 2013 I'm so glad that your husband decided to Take it out after so much went wrong. I don't understand for the life of me how some patients decide to have the band repositioned or whatever after it goes wrong. I'm 15 days post op and I've been having lots of raw like pain that started on the 7th night particularly when I lay down, and I already asked my husband to please have it taken out if anything goes wrong. My surgeon said that the pain is caused by pulling a muscle and that it will get better, gave me Percocets and send me on my way. I pray that he is right. I hope that your hubby gets a fast recovery. Will keep him and you in my prayers.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
