Question about fills and pain

Recommended Posts

We must have been in OR's at the same time, in different hospitals, on 2/19 as that is the day I got banded. My doctor put about 2 cc's in at surgery and after 3 weeks of liquid and 3 weeks of mushie foods I had my first fill. My PA sprays a cold substance on the area around the port and then you don't really feel the needle. There is some pressure when the plunger is pushed to send the Fluid up the line to the band but it only takes a minute or so. No pain afterward either.

How funny we have the same " bandeversary"

I'm in CT-- and have nothing in my band. :(

I've been tempted to beg for an early fill but decided to heal and practice as much as I can, and wait. Next Friday will be my first fill and I'm aware that I still may be hungry much of the time. Any easing of the hunger will be appreciated!

Thank you for the great description of the fill--- it will help me prepare!

Hi All. I too have a slight "buldge" at my portsite. Dr. said depending on the build if the patient everyone is different. Hope also as I continue to shed weight, it won't stick out. Can feel a slight pull at times if I bend a ceerain way but not to tender unless I push on it. I'm almost 1 mo. post op, down about 20lbs. 35-40 more to goal! :) thanks

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
