I signed up for the march challenge. My starting weight was 311 my goal is 300. Today I weighed 305. With only 5 days to go would it be cheating to do a liquid diet to get to my goal?

It's not like your winning something. This is just challenge to keep yourself on track and accountable! Going on liquids to reach the monthly goal is not accomplishing anything if when you eat solids on April 1st you gain back the weight because you lost only Water weight! This shouldn't be a race or a quick fix fad! Make your goals realistic! 1-2 pounds a week. This way you won't be discouraged or frustrated by not obtaining unrealistic numbers! Remember, it's a goal, you won't be ridiculed for not reaching it! Congratulation on your weight loss so far! It's going to take time to regain your body and health, just be patient and do it safely by following the lap-band rules as best as you can!

i dont see why you couldnt. its not (cheating) but understand that liquids does help (with the weight loss) via Water weight....as good as you are doing, why buck progress? eating food to lose weight is how to do it.....(to me, diet pills, liquids only is diet mentality)...we are not on a diet..and remember you are doing fabulous. you will get that challenge.

Cheating whom? As the others said you are not winning anything, just your own challenge to yourself! If you feel that you want to jump start your month of April by hitting your 300 lbs goal, then go ahead, others do liquid diets at time on this site! Karen

Generally speaking posts that start with a question like yours tell me you already know the answer. What is point of meeting some one month challenge? The goal is lifestyle change and it you cheat on a meaningless challenge, it looks bad for your long term compliance on the band. IMHO

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
